It’s been a while since our last update, but we’ve put together a highlights reel from Maker Faire 2013. Enjoy!

The Las Vegas Mini Maker Faire is this Saturday, February 2nd from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM and we couldn’t be more excited about it! Buy tickets now, or get them at the door!

Cirque Mechanics was founded in 2004 by Boston native and German Wheel artist, Chris Lashua, after the success of his collaborative project with the Circus Center of San Francisco, Birdhouse Factory. Cirque Mechanics quickly established itself as a premiere American circus, with its unique approach to performance, inspiring storytelling and innovative mechanical staging.

Cirque Mechanics is a great example of what happens when Makers and performers intersect! They’ll be at the Las Vegas Mini Maker Faire performing and showing off their custom made equipment.

Hey you – yes, you! Would you like to get involved in the Vegas Mini Maker Faire? Well, we’d love to have your help too! Join us on Monday, October 29th at 7:00 PM to get the skinny on what we’re planning and find out how you can get involved. Curious? Have questions? Show up! We’re here to give you all the answers!

Please RSVP by Sunday, October 28th so we know you’re coming. It’s easiest to park at the El Cortez and walk a block to the location.

Repurpose America will be teaming up with us during the Las Vegas Mini Maker Faire to provide building materials, assist with planning, and offer some helping hands during the event. Keep your eyes open – they may even have a booth!

Do you create magical snow globes out of found objects and light bulbs? Can you re-purpose worthless car parts into a disco wind machine? Are you an artist with unusual pieces, or the instructor of a special astronaut yoga class? Then you’re a Maker. Creatives, tinkerers, DIYers, cinematic explorers, hopers and dreamers, you’re all Makers. And if you want to teach, share and show off what you’ve made to the world, then you’re a Maker and we need you!

This is an invitation for all you Makers out there to come show your stuff at the very first Mini Maker Faire in Las Vegas! It’s our chance to gather the creative community and show the world what this city can make. We ask you to fill out the form telling us about what you’d like to show at the Faire, so we know who you are and what you’re about. We will fit in as many booths and exhibits as we can at the February 2nd event. If your booth will sell something, (handmade goods, DIY kits, etc), a small fee may be required (TBD).

Our call for Makers ends on December 22, but don’t wait too long to send in your application. We wouldn’t want you to turn into a pumpkin or something – that’s super awkward for family photos. Click the “Makers Apply Here” form at the right to submit your exhibit. Your idea is awesome, we can already tell. We’ll see you at the Faire!

We’re excited to be bringing the magic and family fun of Maker Faire to Las Vegas in 2013.  We’ll be filling out these pages with more information and updates as we get closer to the date, including a schedule of talks and ticketing information.
